Biography

Sergei Belikov is a European painter devoted to the enduring language of classical realism and to the creation of portraits that carry presence across time.
Working within a slow, multilayered technique rooted in the traditions of the Old Masters, he approaches portraiture not as representation, but as the formation of an image destined to remain.

Born in the Soviet Union and living in Finland since 2000, Belikov developed his practice through an independent return to the principles of drawing, light, and structure that shaped historical European painting.
This path, pursued outside institutional fashions, led to a body of work defined by stillness, precision, and the quiet authority of form.

His portraits are created through extended periods of observation and layered painting, allowing the image to emerge gradually rather than be imposed.
The result is not decorative likeness, but a presence intended for spaces of memory—private houses, collections, and interiors where time itself becomes part of the work.

Belikov’s paintings are held in private collections and in the Gösta Serlachius Museum collection in Finland.
He continues to work on a limited number of commissions, dedicating each portrait to the enduring dialogue between power, memory, and human presence.
